“The purpose of life is not to be happy. It is to be useful, to be honorable, to be compassionate, and to have it make some difference that you have lived and lived well.”  Ralph Waldo Emerson

Community Service is the heart and soul of many communities and is important to those efforts that support and sustain those in need. This sentiment of tending to the needs of those less fortunate is woven into the fabric of Titania employee life. There are numerous programs supported by Titania staff throughout the year. Often these activities are highlighted in detail in the corporate quarterly newsletter. Some of the important programs supported this year include Special Olympics; support to the Vint Hill Transitional Housing residents; Fit 4 Success; Military Intelligence Corps Association (MICA) fundraising to support scholarships, our current and veteran forces and their families, and wounded warrior programs; and Operation First Response (OFR), a direct service charity.

In December, backpacks were stuffed by Titania staff, delivered to the OFR headquarters in Culpeper, and then shipped to forward deployed combat hospitals in theaters of military operation, around the world. There, these backpacks are provided to wounded service men and women, who often arrive at hospitals without any personal items. In addition to a specific inventory of personal hygiene and clothing items, each backpack contains a handmade blanket or quilt and a personal, handwritten letter for each wounded warrior. The intent is to provide a little care and concern from home—a heartfelt thank you for their service and support until they return to the United States. OFR Founder and President, Peggy Baker shared “Titania’s continuous attention to and support of the Operation First Response mission enables OFR to achieve its important goals of caring for those who have sacrificed so much in the name of freedom and democracy. We are proud to partner with Titania and honor those who wear the uniform of our nation each and every day.”

“The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others.”  Mahatma Gandhi
